“Green, Green Grass of Home“ adalah lagu country yang dipopulerkan oleh Porter Wagoner pada tahun 1965. Lagu ini ditulis oleh Claude “Curly” Putman, Jr. dan direkam pertama kali oleh Johnny Darrell. Lagu ini kemudian dinyanyiikan oleh Tom Jones pada tahun 1966 dan mencapai posisi puncak di Tangga Lagu Singel UK. Lagu ini juga direkam oleh Jerry Lee Lewis pada tahun 1965 untuk album Country Songs For City Folks.
Lirik lagu mengandung makna yang tersembunyi. Tertulis bahwa seorang pria sedang kembali ke kampung halaman dan disambut oleh keluarganya dan ia tampak “senang dapat menyentuh rumput hijau di rumah” namun sebenarnya ada suasana berduka. Dalam lirik “Then I awake and look around me, at four grey walls that surround me. And I realize that I was only dreaming” dapat diterjemahkan sebagai keadaan seorang di penjara yang baru terbangun dari mimpi dan mendapati bahwa eksekusi sudah dekat Lirik “Yes, they’ll all come to see me in the shade of that old oak tree, as they lay me ‘neath the green, green grass of home” diterjemahkan bahwa kemungkinan ia akan kembali namun untuk dimakamkan.
Versi Joan Baez version berakhir dengan kalimat: “Yes, we’ll all be together in the shade of the old oak tree / When we meet beneath the green, green grass of home.” –
Tom Jones merilis lagu ini di Britania Raya pada tahun 1966 dan berhasil mencapai puncak tangga lagu pada tanggal 3 Desember dan terus di puncak selama 7 minggu. Di Britania Raya, lagu ini terjual sebanyak 1,23 juta kopi sampai bulan November 2012. Versi Tom Jones juga mencapai nomor 11 di tangga lagu pop dan nomor 12 easy listening di Tangga Lagu Billboard Amerika Serikat.
Pada Februari 2009, Tom Jones menyanyikan lagu ini secara langsung dalam Take-Away Show dengan Vincent Moon, bersama lagu “If He Should Ever Leave You” dan “We Got Love” di New York.
