Indonesian stock traded higher on Wednesday as stocks across the region climbed after trade sentiment improved.

Jakarta composite index rebounded 34.181 points (+0.55%) to 6,245.143 while LQ4 rose 0.64% at 982.624. There were 9.89 billion shares traded worth of Rp4.124 trillion, including transaction of Rp447 billion in negotiation market. Foreign investors sold a net Rp290.39 billion in regular market during midday trade. 253 shares rose, while 146 declined, 143 unchanged, and 198 untraded.

According to JISDOR, rupiah strengthened 49 points (+0.34%) at 14,234 while Spot rate added 85 cents (+0.59%) at 14,230 against the USD.

Stocks in Asia were higher on Wednesday after U.S. announced a delay in the implementation of tariffs on some Chinese goods.

The United States Trade Representative announced Tuesday certain products including clothing and cellphones are being removed from additional tariffs of 10% while Other tariffs will be delayed to Dec. 15 from Sep. 1.

Data overnight showed the US annual inflation rate rose to 1.8% in July 2019 from a four-month low of 1.6% in the previous month and above market consensus of 1.7%, boosted by food prices and a range of other goods while energy deflation eased. Core inflation edged up to 2.2% in July 2019, the highest since January, from 2.1% in June and slightly above market consensus of 2.1%.

Meanwhile, China’s Industrial output rose 4.8% in July as compared to a year earlier, the slowest in 17 years, and much lower than expectations of a 5.8% growth from a year earlier. Other data showed retail sales growth rose 7.6% in July from a year earlier, weaker than analysts forecast of 8.6%.

Oil edged lower after jumping the most since early January. Data from industry group the American Petroleum Institute showed U.S. crude stocks unexpectedly increased by 3.7 million barrels to 443 million, compared with analyst expectations for a decrease of 2.8 million barrels Brent declined 52 cents (-0.85%) at $60.78 barrel while U.S. West Texas Intermediate fell 64 cents (-1.12%) at $56.46 a barrel.
